The scientific name for the Hawaiian green sea turtle is Chelonia mydas, but the Hawaiian name is simply “honu.” Despite their status as an endangered species, there are relatively common sightings around the coral reefs in Hawaii waters. In addition to feeding and resting, honu in Hawaii can also be observed basking on sunny beaches.

This is an original one-of-a-kind impression made from a replica honu. Printed in the direct method of gyotaku onto washi paper using an archival, water soluble, printmaking ink. It is PH neutral (acid free). The paper measures 12 inches x 12 inches and has a soft deckle edge.

It is titled in the lower left corner and signed in pencil then stamped with my red chop in the lower right corner. It will arrive with a signed certificate of authenticity.
